August 22 2010 2:33 Oklahoma time, so I just got home from church, did a lil workout, listened to some dubstep, posted up onFacebook and guess who I see on.. Johnny "geolylfish" Utah and heres goes the next 10-15 sincerly brought to you by that sick clicka V7.
V7- so Johnny how and when did you get into the art scene?
V7-haha same thing happened to me. So how did you meet Pastr and Adyor you guys go back a few years?
JOHNNY - Partying to hard, too often. Hahahaha.... But then it turned into a family for me so I'm pumped that things got so wild. All the memories I still have will be cherished forever.
V7-So lets talk about that fatefull night you meet Sal, what did you have to do to get in V7?
Johnny - Hahahahaha... Damn. So Adyor was running around in his whitey tighties as usual and I told him to put some pants on. Sal got up and got into his then wrestled Adyor. When I laughed, they got real serious with me and told me to get naked because I had just joined a gay gang. Sal told Adyor and Pastr (who I think had gotten naked during all this) to go outside so he could talk to me. I was on the verge of shitting my pants but he just asked me if I trusted him. I said I did, took off my pants, and then we just drank our faces off all night.
V7- hahaha good times!! So lets touch on technique. What kind of tools do you use for your art? Programs? Camera? Paint? Surfaces?
Johnny - I use anything I can get my hands on. Spray, acrylic, gouache, marker, pen, charcoal, pencil, film camera, digital camera, Photoshop, and the occasional completely random shit. As far as surfaces, it's pretty much the same there. Canvas, bristol board, newsprint, hand-made paper, table tops, counter tops, doors, and whatever other street treasure I come across
V7- Very eclectic and inovative style. So didnt you used to make beats too? You still up on that?
Johnny - I do still use Reason, but it's not really hip hop beats any more. I'd call it something like industrial minimalism/horror. It's super fun to make but I don't quite have anything to the point where I'm ready to show people.
V7- Yeah man I want to hear some of your stuff in secret some day. So theres rumor of a Canada trip, wanna go into detail or should we check back with you when you get back to the states?
Johnny - That's going to have to be a surprise. My teacher is a fucking incredible artist though so I feel confident promising you that you won't be disappointed.
Plus I might get cabin fever so being crazy would be an awesome bonus!
V7- Yeah Cabin fever you see crazy haulucinations and dont even have to pay for it. So to wrap this up cause i have to take a major shit right now any last words?
Johnny - I just want to thank all my friends for their endless love and support and remind every young artist/musician/whatever to do what they do simply because it makes them happy. Fuck the money. Scrape by and have fun!
V7-Thanks for your time Johnny see you next year when you come back to the states, stay up Volta Seven-out!
